  • Reael's prayer

Lately, Reael has been using "I need to go poop" to get out of bedtime. So we've decided to let her poop, but she gets a spanking if she's lying and doesn't really go. Tonight was one of those nights. She didn't really need to go, but she said she did.

After 5 minutes of relaxing on the toilet, I asked her if she told the truth and she said no. So I explained why she was getting a spanking. I followed through with her spanking, and then took her to her bed to have her kneel and pray. This is how it went.

    Reael- "Jesus..."
    Mom- "I'm sorry..."
    Reael- "I'm sorry for lyin'"
    Mom "Help me..."
Reael- "Help me to feel better. In Jesus name, Amen."
Mom- "Help me to remember to tell the truth."
Reael- "Help me to remember to tell the truth. In Jesus Name, Amen." BIG SMILIE

She then told me sorry and I forgave her and then I tucked her back into bed. :c) It was just too cute so I had to post about it.
  • "Ahoy Matey"

Avi has these pajamas that have some boats on them and on the chest it says, "Ahoy Matey". He always asks us what it says when he wears them and then tries to repeat back what we say.

    Here's how the conversation goes...

    "Mom, what does this say?"
    "Ahoy Matey"
    "A whore Matey?"
    "No, Ahoy-yyy Matey"
    "A horny matey-yyy?"
    "No, A-HOY MATE-Y"
    "Oh, Ahoy Matey!"
    "Very good Avi, that's right."

It's almost impossible to not laugh. I'm sure you can understand why. And then of course Reael always follows suit and repeats each way it's tried to be sounded out. Oh man. What can we do?

  • Small Update

I'm going to keep xanga.... The quirks that irked me the most with xanga were changed about 4 days after leaving to blogspot. So I figure I might as well stay on xanga. :c)

Not much going on. Avi is turning 4 in about 2 weeks, and he can hardly wait for his birthday. We've had a VERY good week with schooling. He's doing great and we've been so proud of him. He does best in memorizing bible verses which I'm excited about it. For his birthday he has requested a bible of his very own.

Reael's new thing is to say "You're a RAT" when she's mad or frustrated with someone. We're working on correcting this one, but it's VERY difficult not to laugh when she says it and with how she says it. This morning I ask her to please shut our bedroom door so Nathan and I could talk about the day and as she was closing it she said, "You're a rat... under her breath" It's funny, and not so funny all at the same time. She also loves school and her memory verses, but the thing we're working most on with her are our flashcards. She loves those.

I've been kind of disappointed that this year we wont have any flowers in our yard. This fall we didn't want to plant anything until we knew how we were going to do our landscaping. Well yesterday Nathan said I should see all the bulbs coming up. I went out and looked and we have a TON of flowers coming up in an area of about 2.5 feet by 25 feet! I can hardly wait to see what comes up, and I'm so excited to have fresh cut flowers on the table again!!!

Nathan is doing well too. We are very excited for this week to be over. At church, and in the area of ministry, Easter and Christmas are the most busy times, and it's actually pretty ridiculous this year. So next weekend we are taking a few days off and heading up north as a family. It will be a good time of refreshing. He's been working on his "Target Board" so that Nathan and Avi have a place for throwing their knives. Avi is especially thrilled about throwing his knives with daddy (which he got at Christmas time). Just for the record, they are not kitchen knives, but rather special knives made for throwing, but Avi still can not touch them without Nathan by his side. :c)

What else. I'm really missing family and friends and hoping to go West sometime this year as a family to visit all my side of the relatives.

I've been reading a new book called "The Beautiful Ache" --- It's VERY good. It's by Leigh McLeroy incase anyone is interested in it. It's about finding God when life does not satisfy, basically about contentment and understanding the heart of God when things just do not make sense. I've been really challenged by it.

We've had a nest of spiders hatch in our house and even though Nathan has assured me they are wolf spiders, it's a spider none-the-less and I do not want to co-habitate with spiders, EVER, regardless of their species. (Especially when we're living in Brown Recluse territory. :c) So my goal is to go buy very good quality bug spray today so that Nathan can spray our house VERY WELL and then I would like to get a can of spider spray too. Let's put it this way, I have no clean laundry because I'm too afraid to go into the basement and wash dirty laundry due to the eery feeling of live things falling from the open ceiling above my head by the washer and dryer. (NATHAN finds this extreme, I do not.)

It's a beautiful day today and we're going on a walk as soon as we're done with breakfast, so I should be going. Have a good Easter Weekend remembering what it's really about.

  • New blog

I'm not sure what kind of changes are happening in the xanga world, but I do know I'm not alone when I say it seems to be having problems with uploading and posting photos, and gets harder and harder, and more time consuming with each passing day.

All of this to say, the Goodin Family is switching to a new weblog community.  Here is our new address:

    http://goodinfamily.blogspot.com/

Please join us over there to stay updated with our current events.

We will still try to stay in contact through xanga, and will miss our xanga friends.  :c)

About Me

  • Our passions in life are our family, worship, relationships, creative stuff, and leading others to a place of intimacy with God. We're learning how to be parents and teach our children to live for Jesus through example. Parenthood has challenged us in ways we've never imagined! :c) More than anything in this life, we love God with all of our hearts and long to be used by Him for His glory.
